Technological and economic long-term perspectives of telecommunications (Next Generation Networks)

The study sketches the most important technological and economic development trends in the telecommunications sector until the year 2010. It covers all sectors of telecommunications, e.g the fixed network as well as the mobile networks, the wireless technologies as well as broadband infrastructures and applications. The research project has four parts:

  1. Theory of telecommunications development applying the concept of „optimal communications“.
  2. Exploitation of existing studies and forecasts for Germany and other countries, especially selected European countries, Asian countries and the United States.
  3. Analysis of Venture Capital-databases used as an indicator for future developments in technology and applications.
  4. Description of drivers and barriers of the telecommunications development in Germany.
