Doctoral degree (with distinction) with a dissertation about the intellectual and technical roots of personal computing. For his dissertation he received the Borchers Medal from the Technical University Aachen and the Rudolf-Kellermann-Award for the History of Technology from the German Association of Engineers.

1992-1994: Assistent Researcher at the Institute for Technical Informatics and Man-Machine Systems, Technical University Aachen, Germany

1994-1999: Teaching and pre-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of the History of Science and Technology, Technical University Aachen

Since 1999 scientist and consultant for Information and Communication Technologies, Innovation Research and Technology Assessment at the Fraunhofer ISI
