Centre for Energy Policy and Economics (CEPE) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich/Lausanne

In August 1999, the CEPE was founded by the Swiss Federal Institute of technology (ETH) of Zurich/Lausanne and the Paul Scherer Institute. Professor Eberhard Jochem was appointed as one of the three directors.

The CEPE focuses on three research fields:
  • energy economics (including liberalisation and external costs)
  • energy and sustainability
  • rational application of energy and energy policy
Professor Jochem lectures on economic aspects of energy economics, on energy policy, as well as on perspectives on energy. The Comeptence Centers Energy Policy and Energy Systems  as well as Sustainability and Infrastructure Systems closely cooperate with the CEPE regarding these subjects; joint research projects deal with the definition of the potential of energy efficiency, climate policy, or forecasts of energy requirements.
