Served as assistant at the Department of Economic Geography and of the President of Hanover University. Since 1988 at Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI. During the same year scientific administration at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. Since 1996 head of the department and since 2008 head of the Competence Center Policy and Regions.
