The main focus of research in the Business Unit Policy and Evaluation is to develop, analyze and evaluate strategies and policy measures. We advise German and foreign governments, ministries, the European Commission, as well as organizations. We contribute towards an increasing strategic intelligence and optimizing the governance structures and processes in policy-making. Coordinator of Business Unit is Dr. phil. Susanne Bührer.

The Business Unit Regions and Clusters analyzes the structure and dynamics of regional innovation systems and technology clusters. We offer our customers scientifically based analyses for measuring, recording and assessing regional technology and innovations. Coordinator of Business Unit is Dr. rer. nat. Thomas Stahlecker.

In order to describe and analyze innovation systems as well as judge their competitiveness, the Business Unit Innovation Indicators develops and applies quantitative economic and social science methods and indicators, which permit estimates of innovation potentials, technological performance or possible future technological developments.
