Coordinator of Business Unit "Industrial Innovation Strategies and Systems"

Oliver Som studied Political Science and Social Science at the University of Stuttgart and obtained the degree “Magister Artium” in 2005. From September 2005 to December 2010 he has been working as a junior researcher in the competence center “Industrial and Service Innovations” at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe. Since December 2010 he works as senior researcher at Fraunhofer ISI.

His research mainly focuses on firms’ innovation strategies beyond R&D and the economic relevance of “low-tech” sectors in developed industrial economies, technical and organisational process innovation as well as on quantitative and qualitative measures of firms’ integrated innovation ability.
