Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important, due to high energy prices and climate change. Therefore, the Business Unit Energy Efficiency analyzes techniques and measures to raise energy efficiency and develops appropriate strategies for enterprises and politics. Coordinator of the Business Unit is Dr. Clemens Rohde.

A safe, economical and environmentally compatible energy supply needs sustainable supply systems. In the Business Unit Energy Economy market analyses for technologies and services are conducted, new energy sources in transport assessed and energy-efficiency system analyses carried out. Coordinator of the Business Unit is Professor Martin Wietschel.

The planning of a sustainable energy system requires detailed analyses of the demand developments to be expected in the future and the potentials of demand-side efficiency strategies, which are a key to achieving climate protection and supply security (goals. In the Business Unit Demand Analyses and Projections technology-based models are developed and used for contract research from industry and politics. The acting Coordinator of the Business Unit is Professor Martin Wietschel.
